Getting ready for a solo hunt trip

Note: my hands-free grunt tube. It is one of my favorite inventions along with my 12-point tactical sling. I hunt with my gun at the low ready and I "Kellie Swalk" which is my term in which I combine: still hunting, stalking, and walking with my hands-free grunt tube in my mouth.

This is an amazing Whitetail that I helped scout. The deer trails looked like cow paths with so much deer sign I was mesmerized. What a huge monster buck.

Shed hunting is my passion. I especially like when I find moose sheds because there are more deer where I hunt then moose. Moose are a gorgeous animal. I have called them in several times with my mouth call. I admire their beauty. I have never hunted Moose. My favorite wild game dish to make is Moose Swiss Steak with Pearl Onions.

I hunted almost every day after work and on days off to land this one on one of the last days of the season. I saw two bigger, enormous bucks but i couldn't get a shot at either. It was a great hunt.

I love to Grouse hunt while hunting for Antler Sheds. I have found over 200 Antler Sheds in about five years. I enjoy Antler Shed Hunting more than hunting. Hunting is not about killing for me; it is about the experience in the wilds of the world.

Ruffed Grouse and Antler Sheds

I love to grouse hunt. I have never had a bird dog until just now. My Beagles got killed by car and now I have a Red Heeler who hunts birds and hares and rabbits. I love Braised Grouse with wild morel mushrooms and garden-fresh green beans and long-grained wild rice.

Grouse Breasts are good placed in a roasting pan and rubbed with olive oil, sage, and rosemary. Add some cream of mushroom soup, wild morel mushrooms and/or some canned tomatoes and rice and you have an amazing meal.
